The Municipality of Bologna has been invited to present ROCK project at the Workshop ‘Integrated Planning, Design & Finance for Urban Resilience’ during the European Week of Regions and Cities (EWRC 2017). This key event on EU Regional Policy is organised by the Committee of the Regions together with DG REGIO in Brussels from the 9th to the 12th of October.
The interactive workshop will take place on Tuesday 10th October at the European Commission premises, Centre Borschette, Room 1D from 14.30 to 17.00. It will engage a panel of three experts and four representatives of European cities and will build on a solid bulk of EU-funded research and innovation actions on sustainable urban development. In line with both the Urban Agenda for the EU and the Habitat III New Urban Agenda, integrated Planning, Design & Finance will be presented as key pillars to overcome governance fragmentation in public policy formulation on urban development. Indeed, the event will highlight how national, regional and local development policies and related financial investments have a strong spatial dimension.
Innovative urban planning and design practices from different European cities and urban regions will be discussed to showcase how regions and cities can increase adaptation to major urban challenges, attract investments for innovation and support cohesive and culturally-diverse communities.
In this context Rock will be presented as an example of a project based on the inclusion of culture in its concept of integrated vision for a sustainable development of cities.
Catherine Cullen, Special Advisor on Culture in Sustainable Cities, Committee on Culture, UCLG and member of ROCK Multi Actor Advisory Board, has also been invited to participate in the workshop as a speaker.
